Most modern operating systems are already IPv6 ready, although not many people are aware of this. Support for IPv6 is compatible with Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. As Microsoft’s official website explains.
IPv6 is designed to solve many of the problems of the current version of IP (known as IPv4) such as address depletion, security, autoconfiguration, and extensibility. Its use will also expand the capabilities of the Internet to enable a variety of valuable and exciting scenarios, including peer-to-peer and mobile applications.
To Enable IPv6 on a Windows computer, the user must go to command prompt and type the following command.
C:\Documents and Settings\User> ipv6 install (Shown in Fig 1).
